Penguin PaloozaLiteracy and Multimedia Festival
Penguin Palooza, a literacy and multimedia festival, is designed to demonstrate the creativity and multimedia skills of 2nd grade students in McKinney ISD. Each campus will have the opportunity to showcase the learning of their 2nd grade students. Each campus may decide if they would like to choose winners or showcase all student projects.

During this project students had the opportunity to explore iPads apps, read fiction and nonfiction literature about penguins, and research their favorite penguin. Students also had the opportunity to Skype with author Jean Marzollo and the Santa Barbara Zoo. Twitter stations were set up in the Media Resource Centers so students could tweet about their experience and share their learning with a global audience.
Students created digital projects as the culminating activity from their study. The festival will showcase these wonderful and engaging projects.

The festival is showcase student art work created with the help of MISD art teachers. Elementary PE teachers also participated by teaching 2nd grade students "The Penguin Boogie" that will be performed at the festival. Various campus will have the opportunity to present reader's theatre and poetry projects.
